Villagers nominated for Ivor Novello Award

Villagers nominated for Ivor Novello Award

We are delighted to announce that VillagersDarling Arithmetic has been nominated in the category Album Award, at this year’s Ivor Novello Awards.

Conor O’Brien previously won the ‘Best Song Musically and Lyrically’ Ivor Novello Award in 2011, for his track ‘Becoming A Jackal’ taken from the debut album of the same name.

Released in April 2015, Darling Arithmetic is the third full length album from Villagers. O’Brien wrote, recorded, produced and mixed the album at his home – the loft of a converted farmhouse that he shares in the coastal town of Malahide, north of Dublin. It was a more pared-back, intimate journey compared to the multi-faceted arrangements of 2010’s Becoming A Jackal and 2013’s {Awayland} and revealed a single-minded artist at the peak of his already considerable songwriting powers.

Previously nominated twice for the Mercury Music Prize and winner of Ireland’s Choice Music Prize, O’Brien is currently working on his fourth album.

Villagers will be playing a string of festivals this summer across Europe and North America.
