New 360 degree Video for ‘Houzzfunction’

Following on from last Friday’s release of his self-titled debut album, Motion Graphics, aka Joe Williams, is pleased to share the video for album standout ‘Houzzfunction’. The 360°, VR compatible video was directed by visual artist and animator CULTURESPORT, who also created the visuals for ‘Lense’ and ‘Anyware’, and the album art for Motion Graphics. Says Williams on ‘Houzzfunction’: “The video for Houzzfunction exists as a visitation to an unfinished landscape under construction. Traveling through this terraformed area without any inhabitants, it could be a ghost town still rotating asa recalled city model. There is conversation about what went off with their planning while we float beyond this abandoned satellite in orbit. We can see the streets plotted with cell phone towers camouflaged to look like trees, moving between camera angles in panoramic torque.”

Created over a two year period between NY, LA, & Baltimore, Motion Graphics is a unique and compelling collection of richly detailed widescreen compositions, inspired in part by the ambient sound effects of digital menu systems that decorate today’s auditory landscape. Creating custom randomized software instruments, Williams’ mimics the erraticism of the Twitter timeline and the aggregated news feed, while incorporating elements of techno-pop and jazz, sequenced through the superhuman capabilities of a computer. Motion Graphics is an ambitious debut from an artist adept at manipulating the sounds and digital tools ubiquitous to the everyday. 

Williams currently serves as a core member of Future Times’ Maxmillion Dunbar’s ongoing Lifted ensemble. Williams’ productions can be heard on Baltimore-based Co La’s Moody Coup LP and on Williams’ original score for 12 O’Clock Boys, a feature-length documentary on the notorious dirt bike riders of Baltimore’s Westside.    

Motion Graphics is available digitally, and on CD and LP. The LP is housed in a standard jacket containing a printed inner sleeve and hologram sticker. Comes with MP3s. The CD includes a 10-inch poster.
